New toy came today!!!
NONO my engine got here today(finally) and it was in one piece BUT......the plate that has the 13hp sticker on it and covers the recoil rope was smashed in pretty good. I emailed them and sayed send me a new one or I will send them some poo in a baggy. Not really...but thats the point i was trying to get across. the engine turns over by hand smooth and has compression so thats a good sign. These are nice looking engines as long as you get a good one. Hope they send you a better one this time.
How do you plan on hooking the throttle cable up? Should I fill the engine with oil right away? |

It seems like every one of them comes messed up in one way or another, at least that cover isn't mandatory to the operation of the engine. And yes, fill 'er up! Check it when leve and you'll see that the minimum amount is in it on the dip stick. I'd put about a cap full in the top of the cylinder and crank it over with the recoil a few times, about 50 times, and get it all lubed up and rip-roarin ready to go. And I have yet to rig up a throttle cable because that actually requires the engine to do. LOL

Some metal millings aid in the break-in process as well as future bearing health! Take some of the bolts out of the crankcase too, they are just added weight. J/K, even though I know you know better.

neither is the muffler. Hell, you better forget the oil and chop off the case too. Its just extra weight.

Where does your engine say to use 90 octane or higher? I looked up the engine on the website and it said 86 or higher, the compression is only 8:1. Is your manual FULL of typos like mine?
