I didn’t see any. Maybe I missed them. All I saw was the rollers no weights etc...I’ve called and left messages.

That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out if my sheaves are worn or not. A local cart shop wouldn’t even look at it to tell me yes or no. The clutch is already removed. They said they don’t rebuild only replace and they’re 3 days out on appointments etc blah blah so no help there.

I could take a picture of them with a straight edge and would think someone could look at it and tell? They’re smooth and flat however towards the top on both they have a slight “lip” on the last 1/4” or so. Like most other suggestions I’ve seen both complete opposite things said - no lip at all or yes there’s a lip.

From what I have seen though it’s gonna run me $150 or so just for rebuild parts, weights, rollers, bushing, seal etc

I can get a new clutch for $180-$200+
But, most are saying they’re junk so I dunno.....

Plowmans doesn’t offer a primary clutch on their website or machining. Their secondary kit is not too much more than others.

What about the Umax spring from Yamaha?
Those springs are so stiff they don't let the clutches shift into high gear. Plowmans will give you quality at a good price. Look for an OEM primary, not china junk. The Umax springs works just fine, but you said you want more...

Plowmans is a full service shop. He stocks thousands of parts not on his website. Hes a yamaha dealer so anything yamaha has, he can get if he doesnt already have it on hand.

I went ahead and ordered from Carts Parts Plus.
No call back from Plowmans, I called again and they said it would be a few days to get a call back. Tried to order stuff, they don’t / won’t sell certain things ( helix, sheaves, OEM) unless it’s bought in a “kit”.
Finally got prices and they were $130+ higher just off the estimate.

Anyways from CPP I got:
Comet Primary Clutch
Machined Sheave
Fixed sheave
Helix
HD drive belt
Air filter
Pre filter
Kingpin rebuild kit

Shipped for $613

Ordered the Yamaha Umax / Prohauler spring from Partzilla for $41 shipped

So hopefully by this time next week I’ll be back in action.

By this time next week you’ll be back on here asking more questions. I’ve been down this path. There’s more to making these carts sing than just throwing parts at them. Adjusting carb, modifying airbox, adjusting valves all has to go hand in hand with your clutching, spring choice, belt etc. I left my cart at plowmans for a week and when I got it back I was blown away happy. I have a thread on here about how much my cart has worked recently and you can see photos of what it’s doing right now. It’s no joke. I moved my 5500lb camper trailer with this thing...not against people working on their own carts but if you get into a rub, do call don again and be patient with him getting back to you.

I think I’m good now. Got all the parts replaced last night. Only other thing now is setting clutch spring for more low end. It’s on B-3 now, gonna go to B-4 , then not sure what direction after that or if that’s the max setting.

You did the right things, CPP sells good stuff. B3 with the Umax spring is where everyone runs, even with the Vanguard engines. Whatever you do, don't use the white spring, WAAY too stiff! It will keep the cart in low gear way too long. Great for going uphill or towing. Bad for running around for fun.

By the way, if you want more low end power, upgrade to a 16hp Vanguard. No replacement for displacement.

Ok good...you’ll want to give the girl more air too. I know there’s an airbox mod that you can do but I haven’t opened my airbox to see what was done. It’s clamped on there so tight I can’t get the retainer clips off. Some carb tweaking would also help. Curious as to your tire size and what your top speed is using gps.
