2003 Club car - Batteries
I picked up a nice 2003 Club car. I have some issues with the 3 year old 48V batteries. The cart is nice and runs a 23-25 mph. Batteries are not well, one even has a leaky post. Sam's batteries run $650 a set. Would like to put better cables also, stock motor and controller. Read a bunch of threads here and I not sure which way to go. Postings kind of lead to think USVCHX XC2 or Trojan T-890. Would like to hear folks experience...

Found a 2 gauge battery cable set. Looks like factory is a 6 gauge.

My experience says "dont count on that battery watering system fitting your new batteries". The under-seat pic is pretty limited, but it dont look too nasty.

Re: 2003 Club car - Batteries
The guy that built the cart is coming by today. He is very knowledgable and an all around good guy. The he said he was bringing his battery tester and we would figure this thing out.
Thanks for the tip on the watering system. I used it yesterday and it is very nice, so I will be looking for batteries that it fits. Any tips on what wires I should buy? M |

Get rid of the watering system as soon as possible. You have a nice powertron bomb under that seat. It does not take that long to lift the caps and check the water.

Re: 2003 Club car - Batteries
Gases can build up in the cells and then into the watering tubes and then be set off in an explosion, fire or otherwise a destructive force on the cart.

And not having a watering system will cause the need for an individual to inspect his batteries every so often and other problems may become more apparent sooner than later.
