Default California Roadster Speed

I have a 2005 California Roadster. This is a custom cart, but the problem is, I can't identify the drive train components so I can upgrade them. It goes about 22 mph now (25 with a light person), and I'd like to go about 30-35, without tiring on grades. I'm not so concerned about battery life, as this is a small town, and my trips are short. So far I have identified an Alltrax 4844 controller, calibrated to a 0-5ohm throttle control. There are no data plates on the motor or drive case.
Would it pay to upgrade the battery cables?
Thanks,
Pearlyvereen

Probably EZGO but pics will help tremendously.

Battery cables aren't going to get you any more speed, only some torque. Speed costs money. What you want is doable but its going to cost. The controller is a 36-48 volt...most likely its already been upgraded to 48 volts...if not you can gain 20-25% by going 48 volts. You'll need a motor for sure. Probably a new controller to, the one you have is only 400 amps.

I believe those "Calif. Roadter" body kits were made to fit on Club Car frames. Everyone I have ever seen (on line or in person) were Club Car frames. Look under it and see if the frame is aluminum, if so you gat a Club Car. If steel, get some pics and post them of the frame and suspension parts this may help identify what you are working with.
