Default G1 Motor-what are these on the back of the block

I just purchased a new short block for my G1. I have looked and looked and can not for the life of me determine what hoses go on the the 2 nipples on the back of the block. I know one of the them goes up to the air box but the smaller one goes where???

PLEASE HELP OH GREAT FORUM!!

Thanks,
Stephen

Welcome! You bought a later model short block. One of the nipples (He He, I luv nipples) is the hose that will go to the fuel pump, the crankcase pressure will drive it. The second is for a "baffle/surge tank" that was located above the carb/manifold on later models. More questions, just ask. Dave

The motor I pulled out also had these nipples on it. The smaller one has a piece of broken hose on it so it makes me think that it goes somewhere!! Should I just plug the smaller one and run the air baffle thingy to the larger one???

Thanks for the quick response!

Nope. The critical one is the fuel pump pulsar line. As I recall (right now) the smaller nipple (did I say I like that word?) would run to the baffle and can be plugged. The larger one drives the fuel pump. I'll see if I can look at one tommarrow, but I beleive, I'm pretty shure, not positive, 99% shure I'm right

Shure. But first i'm going to take a picture and show you the hose locations, hopefully tommarrow. After so many posts you will have the PM feature. I'm not shure of the rules for giving out my work#. But I try to help over the phone as much as I can. Hang on, we'll get this thing "purring"!

Yes the small outlet tube is for the baffle, "plug" it anyway you can. The larger is for the fuel pump.
