Default Help restore my batteries please :)

So I was bad and I didn't realize and/or didn't maintain my brand new duracell batteries well after purchasing them 2 years ago. I also purchased a cheap Stanley Charger and used it til it malfunctioned then I purchased a very small onboard battery maintainer...

Over the past 2 years I never once checked the fluid level in them...well until yesterday when in my infinite wisdom decided just to look, because you never know. Well they were all low....about 15oz low for the most part. I refilled them all with plain Distilled Water.

I charged them up with my new PowerWise 36v Golf Cart charger and here are the results after a few charges.

Full Charge: All Batteries at ~7.0v with a 40v total

After going ~2.5 miles I came back home with a total of: 30.5v with 4 of the batteries at 5.8v and 2 of them at 3.2v and 4.4v

What should I do? Just keep charging them up with my new charger and keep the fluid to a proper level (1/4" above the plates)?

I've read about people putting epsom salt in the batteries, but I didn't want to do that unless I had to.

There is no silver bullet for this problem. For the most part the damage done by letting the the plates sulfate cannot be undone to point of making the batteries usable for much more than a to the mailbox runner. You have learned a couple of valuable lessons.

PS
If battery restoration was a viable option this website would be filled with the news. What you see out there for restoration is snake oil and magic smoke.

Completely agree with Scotty, this damage is irreversible. Just maintain them from here on out...

I'll bet you could buy a pallet of batteries for the cost of that machine
