Default '86 EZ-GO upgrade

Does anyone have any pointers on how to upgrade the '86 resistor style cart to one that uses a controller, as far as how to wire it and accelerator modifications?

Also, I just finished upgrading to 4 gauge wire and put in new resistors, contacts, solenoid, added a rear end off a 2003, and a new 3.5 hp 3000 rpm high torque motor. My cart now goes between 15 and 17 mph. Is upgrading to a controller needed?

I'll send you a link for a conversion utilizing existing throttle linkage. Just need to get a controller of your choice.

The resistors are very inefficient since they just "bleed" off excess energy. You should gain run time and longer battery life converting to solid state.

If cart does what YOU want it to do why spend the extra mooola. the best speed/torque upgrade you can do is raise voltage to 48v. You can keep your resistors for now, install a 48v solenoid, 2 6v batteries, and a 12v charger.
In the long run, a controller upgrade is the way to go. With controller you can raise volts to what ever level you want. But all of it takes a lot of dollars.
