Default intermittent reverse G4S

89 G4S w/ 5 solenoid ignition. Put key in F and starts no problem, put in R and it rarely starts but if you put in F and start then quickly switch to R and it will go in reverse, can't imagine good for it.
Think it may be something to do with a solenoid but don't know which one responsible for reverse.
When it doesn't turn over in R you can hear a slight humming sound but can't tell from where.
Any tips?
