Electric guru needed, voltage reduced and battery question
I have a 20 amp converter on my cart. I was thinking about adding a stereo and lights and all that jazz. Let’s say I hooked up all of my 12v stuff to a separate battery on the cart. Could I use the vintage reducer as a charger? It would not be on all the time, I would install a switch that would connect the voltage reduced to the battery. In theory it should work. As long as the battery isn’t calling for 20 apps or more I should be fine right?

You mean if it's fed from your cart pack? In theory yes, but that would be nothing more than an unregulated trickle charger.

Re: Electric guru needed, voltage reduced and battery question
No, it won’t work. A 12v battery needs more than 12v to charge it. It will need at least 13.8v. 14.4v is better.
If you can adjust the output of your converter then you should be ok. Cheers Pat. |
