Club Car BB engine build
Hey guys making this post on questions I might have on parts I need for a big block build.
Starting out with a stock 18hp Briggs and looking for little extra speed nothing crazy fast and torque for mud/snow and hills :) What I’m looking at ordering are the following UNLESS the parts don’t enter change or a better part else where or cheaper 1.Rev kit https://www.cartpartsplus.com/perfor...-rev-kit#intro 2. Rods https://www.cartpartsplus.com/perfor...pushrods#intro 3. Springs https://www.cartpartsplus.com/perfor...-springs#intro 4.Head gasket https://www.cartpartsplus.com/perfor...d-gasket#intro 5. Vanguard cheetah cam Only thing I don’t know where or what to buy is roller rockers ??? But if I can get any input on my order that would be awesome Down the road parts if needed Secondary clutch that CPP sells 780 comet or there 06 series |

Re: Club Car engine build
The only thing I forgot in your PM was the roller rockers. They are not necessary but are pretty cool. They reduce friction on the tappets/lifters and offer a smoother rev. Less friction means more hp (although small amount) freed up and a little quieter operation. If you have the cash, go for these. If cash is tight, spend that money on suspension or something else. The performance payback is minimal until you get to the higher revs. So if you spend most of your time below 4500 rpm, you won't really see the benefit.

My 2 cents... sub isky valve springs and two more steel pushrods for the rev kit I’m sorry I just cant see shimming 15-20 year old valve springs

Re: Club Car engine build
The roller rockers are by carrier performance BUT they are high ratio units that other issues such as valve clearance and or coil bind could be involved with an aftermarket cam shaft.P.S. I see also both Backwater and EC sell 1.5 ratio roller units .

Maybe I’ll hold off on the rockers ?? Till I learn more about them don’t want to buy something that might not fit or damage my engine

Re: Club Car engine build
You don’t need roller rockers unless you’re gonna be turning over 6000 rpm

Re: Club Car engine build
If you want something for down the road performance I would get the billet connecting rods rather than the roller rockers.
