I did a motor swap for a FE400 and it has yet to come on, yet I've had it wound up for a good period of time. So its odd indeed.

With a lifted cart the oil level is lower at the sensor due to the engine being tipped back further. That can cause the light to come on.
Usually people just run with a little extra oil.
