I got the solenoids from crank n charge for 20 a piece. I didn't have to use any diodes.

Wire it the same way it was...you do not change anything with it

Where did you hookup your wires (especially red) from the voltage regulator?

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm assuming this switch upgrade would give me the same sort of functionality where I can simply use the key as On/Off, and then install a toggle switch, or even a F/R handle like other carts?

I think this is what I need for my '88 it has the 5 solenoids, and fwd wont engage, rev works fine. Did you convert from the 5 solenoids? if so I'd love to see your diagram.
