Default Battery melted

Friends, charging the car over the weekend, two of my batteries melted. We have a 97 elec ezgo, with new, although not top end batteries. We have a good working ez-go charger, made by textron, although I don't know the model number. It's has a power wise plug and ammeter, as well as a dial for setting the number of hours you want to charge, we usually charge it between uses on the weekend, due to heavy use.

We do live in Texas, and it was 110 over the weekend, but I've never seen a battery melt like that. The negative terminals on battery # and #6 melted through and broke. Any troubleshooting tips? I am thinking it was a combination of the heat, and maybe overcharged? Appreciate any help.

I can't see any way this could have happened while charging.
Battery terminals usually melt when driving from loose/corroded connections.
Now is a good time to replace all the cables and keep them clean and tight.

Thank you, after the meltdown, I pulled and tossed all of them. I just figured it was compounding the problem. Did not know it could be the source.

This is why I tell people to look at the meter on their charger after they plug it in. If you see those AMPS spike above 25, you have a weak battery connection and yes, it will melt a terminal.

Are your battery terminals repairable?
