Default Melted battery post

02 CC/DS 8ga 700 amp EMP motor
I have not used my cart for a while so I put it on charge last night. I got in it this morning and went about 300 yds before it quit. I lifted the seat and the pos post on the #1 battery was melted. There was no other visible damage. The batteries check at 7.53 volts. I am thinking that the connection at the melted post was bad since the batteries were not fully charged. Am I thinking right ? Any other possibilities ? Thanks for any input.

I think you are right ...the connection at that battery post was loose and caused the meltdown.

That's what causes it. Corrosion or loose terminal. You know how to repair it?
Wow! 700 amps! You need bigger cables....Go to #4 welding cable with high strand count.

I don't have any idea how to repair a melted post other than replace the battery.
