G1 Engine Rebuild...need advice
My parts are scheduled to be delivered Tuesday for my 86 G1. I'm replacing the whole top end with a new Cylinder, Piston, Rings, Wrist Pin, and Gaskets along with the crank Seals. Question is, what type of lube should I use if any when I assemble the piston, rings and cylinder????.. I've always used a 30w motor oil on 4 strokes when assembling new pistons and rings to cylinders but have never rebuilt a 2 stroke before. Also, how long should I baby the engine before I run it hard after the rebuild??? Any other advice and tips from those who have also rebuilt 2 strokes?????? Thanks..

Re: G1 Engine Rebuild...need advice
You can use some two stroke oil to assemble. Did you make sure crank bearings are good ? I am doing about the same on a 84 G1 and there is bearing play, so am replacing them.

Re: G1 Engine Rebuild...need advice
From what I can tell, there is no play in my crank or rod bearings. Do you plan to run your cart as usual right after your rebuild, or will you need to take it easy on the engine for a few hours to seat the rings?
