Hello! Looking at a G1 tonight
Hello everyone!
My wife has been wanting a golf cart for quite some time and now I am actively looking for one. I found a G1 close to home that looks to be in really good condition. It will only run by by delivering fuel to the carb by use of an inline primer that was installed by the current owner. Sounds to me like the fuel pump needs to be cleaned out / rebuilt or replaced. We have agreed on a price of $600 pending my inspection tonight. Does this sound like a reasonable price or maybe even a great deal if the only issue is infact the fuel pump? I have been reading up on G1's and have learned how to indentify the year, which I will do tonight. I am wondering if I would be better off buying a newer model? From what I can find, there is a slight frame modification that needs to be made for clutch clearance when installing a lift on the G1's. I'm OK with that, looks minor and I can cut and weld or heat and beat. Just not sure if I should be steering clear of a G1 or not. What I want to do is lift, 4"-6", larger tires, remove cargo box and install rear seats. The use would be light trails and fields and campgrounds. Thank you very much for any suggestions or opinions! |
