batteries
hi guys i just bought a 1995 ezgo txt the batteries need to be replaced and i am having trouble finding 8 volt batteries and the ones that i have found are crazy expensive so my question is can i put four 12 volt batteries in the cart instead of six 8 volt batteries?

Re: batteries
If the cart had 6 8 volts in it I think something has been changed as I believe they were 36 volt. May want to do a little more research on what contoller, motor and solenoid are in the cart. As well as the charger voltage.

Re: batteries
Like kgsc said, need to do some checking, that 1995 ezgo did not come 48volts, that is a 36 volt cart from the factory

Re: batteries
Don't do the three (or four) 12's your run time will be drastically reduced I know because I have tried it with my old cart.

Re: batteries
ive heard that the run time is really reduced but for now im on a tight budget and untill i can get 6 6volts ill be happy if i get atleast 5 or 6 miles out of a charge i really dont use it much just to cruise around the camp ground from one neighbors to another also is it ok to leave the golf cart on the charger when i put it away for the week or should i unplugg it?

Re: batteries
Welcome to BGW!
Is that a question or a statement? Either way, the suggested percent reduction might be a little optimistic. A 36V battery pack consisting of 6 Trojan T-105 6V batteries has a run time of 115 minutes @ 75A (100% benchmark) A 36V battery pack consisting of 3 Trojan T-1260 12V batteries has a run time of 60 minutes @ 75A (47.8% reduction) A 36V battery pack consisting of 3 Trojan T-1275 12V batteries has a run time of 70 minutes @ 75A (39.1% reduction) Of course, no one in their right mind is likely to discharge the batteries in their cart down as far as the batteries are discharged during capacity testing, but the percentages should remain fairly constant. |
