G1 Heat Shield
My 1984 G1 has the heat shield that fits onto the gas tank but the rubber trim piece that goes around the edge of the shield is missing and does not appear to be a part that is sold individually. I'm wondering if anyone has a cross sectional picture of the trim that i could view so i might find something similar to use. Its the only detail that is missing otherwise it would look the same as it was new in 84. There were a few missing pieces when i purchased the cart but i have been able to acquire the items with just this one little detail remaining. Thanks in advance.

Re: G1 Heat Shield
I will try to get you a pic. looks like you can buy it at any of the automotive part stores. it looks like the trim on the front bucket seats but all black.

Re: G1 Heat Shield
I had a G1 & I just used some vacuum hose slit down the side with a little silicone inside. Just an Idea for you!

Re: G1 Heat Shield
Thanks rv, its a minor detail i know and situated under the seats no body but me will probably notice. Once its back in place the cart will truly be 100 % complete as original.

Re: G1 Heat Shield
I could use the heat shield itself if anyone knows where to get one. The one I'm restoring is missing.
Thanks |
