Lifted cart won't go
Just installed 6" spindle kit on a '97 Club Car 48 volt. Small wires (red/green/black) from motor were too short. Had to splice extensions. While doing so, accidentally touched the red and the green together and had a spark (twice). Cart will not go. No clicking noise heard when turning the key on. Any suggestions to a possible problem.....besides the fact that I might have messed up?

Re: Lifted cart won't go
OUCH - Controller or Computer? Let's hope not, but I would suggest not trying to diagnose this on your own. Take the cart to a dealership that has a Club Car mechanic and have it tested. Better to spend an hour labor charge than risk doing more damage.

Did you check the fuse?

Re: Lifted cart won't go
Checked all 3 fuses and they seem good to go. If it is the computer, is it too hard to replace. If it is the controller I guess it would be ahead of the game to go ahead and upgrade the motor as well.
Always disconnect the batts......I don't always practice what I preach. |

Re: Lifted cart won't go
Nothing is too hard to do on a cart. There are certain procedures that factory manuals describe to test the computer, etc. Hopefully you have someone close that can assist...

Re: Lifted cart won't go
"Only" about 140 miles each way. There is a gentleman here in town that works on all carts for the local course and for every trail rider in town. I will probably run it down to him to see if he can diagnose the problem. I noticed that in looking at several of the parts sites that all of the new controllers look completely different than mine. I believe mine is a regen as opposed to a GS. It is the one that applies braking at a certain speed and recharges the batteries.

Re: Lifted cart won't go
If you want to, call our shop tomorrow @ 972/772-8697. My Club Car mechanic's name is Jerry - he's got about 20 years of experience on them and can figure anything out. It would help if you call him when you are at your cart - this way he can walk you thru some steps. That's the best I can offer for free!

Re: Lifted cart won't go
I will have to give him a call when I get a chance. I am new to the gc world and was just viewing your website. Wish I was closer to DFW.....you have produced some nice carts.
Thank you. |
