Default removing rear body

hey guys im removing the body from the rear of the cart and the shift lever will not come off. i removed the screw from the center of it and dont know if there is anything else i need to do or if the thing is just being stubborn. do you just remove the one screw from the center and pull it off or is there something else i need to do? thanks

There are 4 more screws that keep the entire assymbly to the body. Remove them and your good to go. You can see them from out side the cart facing the shifter.

yeah austin i got those screws out but the shifter is still stuck. it could just be stubborn but i didnt want to pull to hard and break something.

The screw just holds the handle on. There is a flat on the rod and
the handle slips over that. Sometimes these handles will slip right
off and other times not so easy. I have had to cut them off some
times. They are not all that expensive. I had rather cut them off
than to break the shifter unit.

thanks big bump. i thought that screw was all that held it on. good point about breaking the shifter unit. i might try a little more but if it comes down to it i will cut that thing off. thanks again

Try prying on the peice inside the engine bay. That would give some force to get that handle off.

just thinking out loud ,what if you use a pickle fork you could tape around the shifter to keep from scratching your body ,the fork would probably force it straight out instead of at an angle.

thanks for all the ideas guys. i ended up wanting that thing off yesterday so i could work on painting it. i drilled little holes trying to go as close to possible to the shaft. it ended up taking about 6 or 8 holes some wd 40 and still quite a bit of prying but it finally came off. ill probably put some black caulk in the holes or eventually get a new one. thanks again
