Default 10A fuse keeps blowing - what is this fuse for?

2003 Club Car DS gas

Suddenly one day, the cart would not start or run. Found that the 10A fuse located closest to the front of the cart was blown. Installed a new fuse, cart ran fine for a few drives that day, then blew the same fuse. Tried installing another new fuse, it blew immediately. Tried installing a 15A fuse (just on a trial basis) and it blew immediately.

What is this fuse for? I have the manual and wiring diagrams, but none of them state what this fuse is for so I can trace wires (so much fun).

Also, if anyone has had this same symptom before, what ended up being the cause so I can start narrowing things down?

The 10 Amp fuse in the fuse panel inside the control box? That is for the low current wiring: ignition switch to solenoid. The microswitches at the back of the shifter and in that control box are part of that circuit, but on the grounding side. While they can cause no start/ no run issues they really don't blow the fuse. You're probably needing to look for a wire problem between the solenoid and the key switch. Look for cut / worn / pinched wire insulation.

Yes, of the 4 fuses in the control box (with a lid and is located under the seat), it's the 10A fuse that is closest to the front of the cart. I know I have a short somewhere, and it occurred suddenly. Thanks for the guidance on where to start looking at wires (between solenoid and key switch).

The 10a fuse closes to the front supplies the key switch, which then provides power to the solenoid.
If the fuse pops immediately suspect either damaged wiring or wiring touching the metal dash frame near the key switch, or a bad key switch.
It also gives power to the reverse buzzer switch on the back of the FnR lever, so also check for damaged wiring there.

Traced wires to the solenoid, disconnected them and still had a short. Then traced wires to the dash, removed one at a time from the ignition, turned out to be the wire running from the ignition switch to the roof. Removed the overhead console and found the positive wire slightly worn in a spot and rubbing the roof frame, all fixed now.
