1984 ez go throttle/Governor question
I have a 1984 ez go gas cart, My question is, where the throttle cable mounts to the governor there is a bolt that the governor is attached to, does that bolt spin because mine doesn’t? I have attached a picture, I’m new to golf carts so learning as I go. Thank you

Are you sure that's an 84 Ezgo? Doesn't look anything like what I would expect an 84 Ezgo to look like

Dabble Inn thank you for responding, I attached a picture of the serial number and a random picture of the engine. It appears to be an ez go however maybe someone switched out the engine at some time. No idea, I paid 300$ for it thinking it would be a fun project.

That tag says 89. The pictures agree. The engine is a 3 PG.
You will find the manual in post #25. https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthre...=105501&page=3 |

Re: 1984 ez go throttle/Governor question
Do you see how the stud has 2 flat sides? The bellcrank also has 2 flat sides. That means that they lock together, and yes the stud is supposed to rotate.
Pages F-1 through F-5 show how to adjust the governor. Figure 1 on page F-3 shows your stud as item 9. Are you driving the cart now? How fast does it go? What exactly are you looking to do? |

Re: 1984 ez go throttle/Governor question
Thanks for responding. No i am not driving the cart yet, I have replaced some wiring and finally got the cart to kick over but not a full crank yet. Only the starter/generator spins, so now I am thinking there is a fuel or carb issue. The stud on my cart does not rotate, it has some play in it as i can move it back and forth but unable to rotate it. Without that rotating I am having issues opening the carb fully, and now looking to possibly bypass the governor all together. The manual and illustrations are helpful but my cart was modified at some point and missing quite a few parts and what is there doesn't function properly. Is there a way to fix that stud?

Re: 1984 ez go throttle/Governor question
I have no experience on a 3-pg, so there is no way that I could talk you through rigging it.
You should still be able to disconnect the throttle, and operate the carb by hand to see if it will run. |
