Default Jetting 91 G9

Hey guys!

First I want to say this a great forum. I have spend many an hour reading!

I bought my first cart (91 G9) a few months ago. I bought it for my wife and kids to get around in our small town. Of course I can't ever leave anything alone and bought wheels and tires, back seats, bumper, and windshield. Last week I received my Plowman's kit. Installed exhaust and driven clutch with the red spring. The problem is the jetting that came with the kit. I have gutted the air box and it was really rich. It would not rev out until I leaned the jetting. I have the stock pilot back in it with spare jet drilled to .040. It runs O.K. but still has a little lag pulling through the powerband. The richer I go the worse it gets. The thing I don't under stand is the plug looks lean. Does anyone have suggestions or experience with jetting a G9 with exhaust and gutted air box. On a side note the motor is freshly rebuilt and ran great before I started with the hop up:)

run it with the plowmans jets and then pull the plug and make sure it is really rich, black plug colour. also make sure your mixture screw is set 1 1/2 turns out after being lightly seated. (and its the larger screw with the spring on it, on the gas tank side of the carb.)
