T Nut to hide audio wiring in Roof Strut Channel?
First time posting here and phew what a registration process...this is the most hardcore locked down forum I've ever joined.
I own a 2017ish EZGO golf cart down here in Puerto Rico, and I've wired up a sound bar to the front roof strut that faces back towards the driver's seat. I want to run the wires along side my roof and hide them inside the little channel/strut that goes along the inside of my roof and then run it down the back strut that holds the roof and into the engine compartment where I can connect it to the electrical system. I'm trying to figure out a clean way to secure the wire in this channel and I could either goop a ton of grey caulk in there to hold it or I was thinking they must make some sort of T Nut or Sliding nut that could push in, twist, and then screw into place. The problem is I can't find anything made for a golf cart like this. The opening is 8.5mm wide and the inside channel is probably 10mm wide, so I'm looking for something around 8x10mm and thin but with a screw hole in the middle so I can secure it. I've added a photo to make it more clear what I'm trying to do. Any suggestions on a nut like this or is there another way to hide the wire, secure it, and make it look nice? |

I don't think a T nut as such is what you're looking for, those are usually for wood so it's just the improper term. What about using something like 3M body trim tape? That stuff is really sticky. It looks like an open C channel you're trying to put the wire in. Wiremold channel might be another option.

Wiremold could work but it usually uses adheasive and since it's hot and humid in PR year round, I'm worried it will start to peel off.
T Nuts come in all sorts of shapes. You are probably thinking of the round ones with the teeth that are used with wood. They make square ones and flat ones too. In my mind a rectangular one that is 8mm on the short side would allow it to fit perfectly in the channel and then I could rotate it 90 degrees and use the longer side to completely block the opening which would hold the cable in. Surely someone has run wire up through this channel before. |

You're correct, I'm only familiar with T nuts for wood. Since body side moldings are applied to vehicles in all environments, I would think that would be a good option. Another option is hot glue.

Might be able to use some door edge molding and just clip it on one side. Should take up enough room so the wire wouldn’t come out.
