G29 lost top end
My 2014 g29 with plowman's riot kit and allied batteries use to top out right around 35mph. Took it for a ride yesterday and it was topping out at 28mph and felt sluggish getting to that speed. Batteries were fully charged. Any ideas where to start.

Re: G29 lost top end
Batteries are 2-3 year old I'll have to measure them under load

Loss of performance is almost always weak batteries.

Re: G29 lost top end
Those are solid numbers. Not sure why you would lose top speed with over 50V on the throttle.

Re: G29 lost top end
Yeah I'm thinking the brakes are hanging up in the rear under further investigation. Are these rears a pain?

Re: G29 lost top end
Not sure which brakes your 2014 has. My 2014 has an internal wet brake - Team axle.

Re: G29 lost top end
Yeah mines the same trans axel. Changed to oil today for the first time and it wasn't terrible. Idk just spit balling maybe it was a fluke and just in my head.

Re: G29 lost top end
It's a good idea to follow Yamaha's recommendation and replace the trans oil every four years. Most folks don't do that. The brake wear generates junk in there. I bought a used 2009 a few years ago and the fluid was really dirty. I also have a 2012 and I changed that fluid after about 6 years and it wasn't too bad. Brake disc replacment on these things is a pain though. Much more work than a standard set of mechanical wheel brakes.
