Default 2 years 8 months on Icon AGMs

2 years 8 months on Icon AGMs, that's it on the factory Brightway AGM battery pack.

One battery dropped a cell and made the cart undrivable. The other 5 seems ok.

Just an real world update for anyone looking at the AGM option when buying. My recommendation would be to skip the AGMs.

Live in Florida, all flat roadways and the cart gets regular use with no long term sitting or storage.

Anyone get any better lifespan?

Of course the very aggravating thing is 2 different Icon dealers refuse to sell a replacement AGM. They offered to give a discount on a $3K lithium replacement though.

Went to the general non dealer golf cart shop down the street and picked up a single AGM and the cart is rolling again.

Hopefully that won't be the start of one battery after another failing...

I'm curious as to which AGM's you have. From what I know, ICON has used 3-4 different batteries over the years. What color are they, and what is written on them. I've read that some have a bit of a reputation for failing, and others are supposedly a better quality and last longer.

The same thing can and does happen with wet lead acid batteries as well. You might have had one bad battery and hopefully your troubles are behind you.

When that happens with wet lead acid batteries, people will often try to replace the failed battery with a "good, used" battery to avoid imbalanced charging of the new and old batteries. Since AGM batteries are more easily damaged when overcharged, you might want to look into your charging voltages of the new battery during a charge cycle to make sure it is charging within the AGM battery specification.

Read up on replacing a single wet lead acid battery here in this thread: https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=193136

Probably will be and I'm ok with that

Winter in Florida is guest season so I had to get the cart going quick and the Icon dealer said mid-February for Lithium install, so that was a no go.

I'm looking into a DIY lithium replacement when things calm down. Any and all suggestions welcome!

They are the Brightway AGM batteries, must be an Icon only brand, could not find a match, so I found a Continental AGM put in.
