Need frame info
Hey all. I'm working on a 1988 Marathon and I think I may be over my head. This is the first golf cart project I've worked on and I'm trying to get thing back the right way.
Does anyone have a picture of what the battery box is supposed to look like? Are the pieces on the back of the frame original or is that something added on? Does the from of the battery box/seat panel come off? It looks like it's spot welded on. And it looks like some of the supports need to be replaced. Can anyone give me info on the frame pieces along the rocker panels? They mostly rotted out. |

Re: Need frame info
'm a fabricator by trade. That frame has been highly modified and not in the correct ways. the material that looks like mess is defiantly not original. Yes you have your work cut out for you , your goal should be to make it sound. I'd start by removing all the material that didn't originally come with the cart.

Re: Need frame info
After looking at the pictures more the frame is completely gone on the drivers side that's a problem that needs to be fix first. It looks to far gone in my opinion .

Re: Need frame info
Nothing ever too far gone. It just needs more material replaced. There are many ways to skin this cat and many pics of Marathon battery bays on the net to see what the goal should be.
The mesh looks like an ingenious repair that has served its purpose/time. Remember all you need is a flat solid place to secure your battery. Some thin plate and small angle iron can get er dun. |

Re: Need frame info
Thank you for the responses. Here's some additional pictures of the frame. Can anyone offer insight on removing the remaining body parts? I'd like to take this all the down to the frame. Any and all help is appreciated
