Programming Alltrax

I have my cart up and running with my new Alltrax installled in my 03 DS. I added the field map for my motor, other than that, I'm flying by the seat of my pants here. I'm not sure which adjustments do what exactly.
My first question is that after setting up the different profiles for the FN key switch, I've noticed that I can change the top speed on the fly with the regen knob. Is this how it's supposed to work? I thought the purpose of the switch was to limit acceleration and top speed among other things so they could be locked in to wherever I set them. I know I'm doing something wrong here I just don't know what. Anyone got a few hints for starters for a rookie?

Call Alltrax tech support, I've found them to very helpful for initial setup.
