Default 1997 G16, engine randomly losing fire

HI all, I'm not sure where to begin with this. Just recently started happening, and it seems to be completely random. Maybe happens more after running for a while than when cold, but I haven't really determined that for sure.

Generally, the engine starts and runs fine. You can be driving along and seemingly at random, engine loses fire and the cart coasts to a near stop. I say near stop because the starter/generator continues to run and the cart creeps forward on that rotation. In every case so far, you can let it sit for a minute or 2 and it starts back up and runs fine for a while again. The cart has a Plowman's Hot Setup installed with throttle cable directly to carb. Also has a tachometer installed. When this problem is happening, the starter is turning and the tach reads "0", which leads me to believe it is spark that's missing. Seems that when things are working as normal, the tach jumps up a bit as the engine turns over before it fires off.

I'm looking for advice on where to start looking. So far, it's only happened when riding in the "real world". Trying to recreate the problem in the shop has been fruitless, as it never happens when I'm trying to make it happen.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

When it quits running, you need to check to see if you have a fuel or a spark issue and go from there.

Verify spark. It sounds like the TCI/coil is going bad. Aftermarket wuhan parts are crap. Buy OEM. JN6-85640-01-00

New TCI/Coil installed. So far, so good. Went for a 30 minute (or so) ride around town tonight without a single issue. Thanks for the help getting this resolved.
