Clutch help
Ok guys I have lifted my 2004 DS and installed 27x8.50-14 tires and of course
NOW I have no torque or bottom end. Once you get it going about 6000ft she will fly. I sent a clutch out to a guy in the past on 1 of my other carts and he cut the clutch and it was a big difference. Who do you recommend to help this over size tire issue ?? |

Re: Clutch help
I've not seen many guys on here with tires that large with the stock motor. You may have reached the limits of what your stock motor can do. If you haven't yet you could upgrade to a power spring in the rear clutch which will keep it from opening too soon, giving you a bit more on the low end for hill-climbing, etc...but the stock motor spinning those really large tires might still be an issue. What size lift is that? I personally wouldn't go bigger than 23" tires without a motor upgrade.

Re: Clutch help
Before you do anything, pull the seat off of your cart and sitting on the edge start it and try to move forward while holding the brake.
How far up the drive clutch does the belt move before it starts "grabbing"? If it up close to middle then you either need to get a 1" shorter belt or drill new engine mounting holes to move the engine 1/2" forward (just the same as a 1" shorter belt) It's kinda like putting a granny gear in it. A stiffer spring just makes the drive system work harder. |

Re: Clutch help
Will check that....
Stock clutch, has a new Badd *** Belt on it from G Boost Thought about machining clutches but didnt know how much to take off? Also is all this flywheel key, air filter, carb jet, etcc.... worth it? I know its a stock motor on a 6" lift and does not rub tires for anyone wondering...LOL 27x8.50-14 tires Buckshot 2s |

Re: Clutch help
There is not a lot that you need to take off the clutch. My belt already seem to ride pretty high on the clutch so i just took maybe 30 thousands off and added the stiffer spring. I did it all while doing the lift and tires so i can't truly attest to the difference it made overall.

Re: Clutch help
Jeff, great link. Anyone have a recommended (shorter) length for the EX40 efi motor? I think its slightly over 38" in stock form? I do not see any belts in the charts in the 37" range.

Re: Clutch help
Not sure how you are measuring but if you put a mark or tape on a belt and roll it on a flat surface and measure from mark to mark that will give you an accurate length to go from.
