![]() I recently aquired what I believe to be a 1974 gas powered harley golf cart. Not to sure but will post pics later to help id it.
I got it up and running but am having a few issues with it and could use some help. The motor spins over slowly in reverse but spins over fine when in forward gear. What could be the some causes of that? Then when I fill the gas tank up all the way and let it sit overnight the fuel drains out. From what I can tell it does not drain out of the gas tank but out of the carb. What might cause this? Also I was wondering what would be the appropriate spark plug for this golf cart? Any help would be great and I appreciate it very much! Thanks again. |

![]() Welcome to the best stupid hobby on the planet. First issue check and make sure the belt is tight. Then might check the start/generator motor. Make sure to clean all the connections to the start generator.
Second issue is a leak in the fuel line or a cracked fuel inlet cap ontop of the carb. Good luck and keep us posted. |

![]() Thanks for the input. I checked your suggestions and these were my findings. The start generator has been recently rebuilt. I cleaned the contacts at forward reverse switch. When my cart has a full tank it will leak fuel and fill the muffler full of fuel. Can't really determine the area or cause of the leak. Any other suggestions and thanks for the help!

![]() You need to rebuild your carb. Call Vintage and order the carb rebuild kit. Simple fix and should fix your problem. I must say your problem seems weird. That is a lot of gas

![]() Thanks I will call them first thing Monday morning.
Is there a check valve in the gas tank? I noticed when previously ridden at full throtle there is a ringing noise. I have been unable to figure out from where. Is it possible it is a piston issue that could cause this? What other things might cause this? Thanks! |

![]() Not sure on the check valve, the ringing is most likely the crack. If the carb rebuild does not work time to pull the engine apart and replace crack and seals. Don't freak easey and under 400 bucks on the highend
