You don't need a special spring, just the cam and buttons, but this means replacing these parts on your driven clutch.
The 28 degree cam, and buttons can be bought from ezgo.
E-Z-GO part #'s are
1 each - 72329-G01 Cam
3 each - 72324-G01 Button
use 120 degrees of preload, and the middle spring setting.

Thanks Ruredy I got a 29" belt this week and ordered the parts for my 28 degree clutch for my 93 marathon w/ 11hp engine and 26" tires I'm pretty happy with the change in the belt but could still use a little more down lo.

I would guess you can but the belt on your cart now would be the 45" one, I don't know of any 44" cart belts. I would bet gates makes one around that size.

That belt measures approximately 1-3/16" W x 41" O.D.

Oh, sorry, I hope it wasn't to painful. I was just wondering if you had been informed of the benifits of a shorter belt

Nah, I didn't cry (much).

Yeah, I had read the whole post, and decided that since my wife wouldn't let me get a big block right now, I'd get a new belt and possible the 28-degree conversion kit.

Do you know if the conversion kit is something that is normally stocked by ezgo dealers? I guess I could call, using the part numbers you gave. I'll see what the shorter belt does first, I guess.

Thanks Jon!

I have never run both on the same cart, I wouldn't be able to stand it. With either the engine tachs up pretty high on take off and it takes a bit before you get in a better gear ratio for cruising. To me, sometimes that can get annoying if your going short distances like picking up stuff around the yard.
I'm not sure about dealers carrying the parts, I get mine from the factory so i'm pretty clueless when it comes to what dealers should or do carry.
