Default Intermittent starting problem when pressing gas

I have a 2008 RXV that has an intermittent issue with starting. Most of the time the cart starts and takes off just like new. However sometimes when you press the gas pedal nothing happens but if you hold the pedal down for about 3-5 seconds, then it will turnover and start. Any ideas

Start with load testing your battery, and then cleaning connections. Especially the positive battery cable.

Ok ,I put in a new battery cleaned all the connections. Removed the entire grounding cables and cleaned all ares where they made connections and re-tightened. I set the shifter to neutral, then lifted the rear end and in both cases no problem. The cart will turn over everytime. I can hear the solenoid make up each time i press the pedal and I put my meter on the starter and see i am getting voltage to it. As soon as i took it for a drive, about the fifth time I stopped and then pressed the pedal to go,nothing. Then about 3 seconds and it will turn over and go. I'm wondering if this is a symptom of brushes in the starter being wore out?

The starter should have rubber plugs that you can remove to check the brushes.

Pop one out to to look at the wear indicator on the side. It should be a line carved in the brush in the middle.

You will also want to run the cart on blocks, and check to see if your voltages climbs a little while running. It could be a bad voltage regulator not charging the battery, and not supplying power to the cart.

Mine does it sometimes also. I think it just has to overcome the compression stroke before it whips it over to start up. I'm just patient and let it do it's thing.
