Default Is this safe?

Can you run 72 volts thru a 36 volt solenoid. If you wire small wires to only 36v, will this protect you when big poles are running 72 volts?

This is the exact logic/setup I am using on my 48v conversion. So far, so good, but 72v? I'm not sure about that one....

thanks, Gornoman, I too have run 48v thru 36v solenoid with no problem. But scary to go to 72 volts. Thats what, 3 times the power of 36v. Would like some technical advice before I try.

DONT DO IT!!

Yes it will function for a little while and then the thing will ark (weld) it self together. With the contacts stuck closed, the cart will not stop.

It happened to me.

I was lucky enough to move the F-n-R switch to the center, and cut the power.
