RPM vs Max Safe RPM
I am starting to rebuild a 1995 Medalist Electric. Themotor says RPM 2800 and it also says Max Safe RPM 8000. Can someone explaint o me what this means? Also can anyone tell me what the stock gears are in the rear end of this cart. It is a series cart. I would like to use the speed calculator but do not know what gears I have.
Thanks, David J. |

Re: RPM vs Max Safe RPM
RPM at designed voltage = 2800
Max RPM = 8k before you damage it. 12.44:1 on the ratio. |

Re: RPM vs Max Safe RPM
So the motor will turn up to 2800 rpm from the accelerator pedal being depressed all the way. The 8000 could come from descending a hill I suppose. Does this sound correct?

Re: RPM vs Max Safe RPM
Yes, down hill or increased voltage.... I believe 48v will spin it at 4200 rpms.
I hear it turns into a hand grenade at 10,000 rpms. Somebody please correct me if my math is wrong. |

Re: RPM vs Max Safe RPM
Put 72 volts in it and it will do 8000 rpm. Don't try it though.

Re: RPM vs Max Safe RPM
not trying to hi-jack this...is there any way to install a tach to see what you're turning?

Haven't seen a tach for a sparky, yet.

Re: RPM vs Max Safe RPM
Isn't that what a speed sensor on a sepex motor is doing?
