Default 2004 Club Car ds motor replacement

I have a 2004 Club Car ds serial# AQ0420-392633. The motor that was in the golf cart was: Club Car regen motor model #5BC59JBS6365 48v 3.2hp part #102240102 10 spline.
The cart was set to go 19 mph, my dilemma is the motor I keep coming across only goes 14 mph. Do I need to stay with the motor model that came out or can I go with a 5 mph motor with out changing anything else on the cart?

Your old motor probably had a speed magnet in it. Can add a magnet to another 3hp motor and get those speeds, esp if bigger tires are on cart.

On the IQ carts the controller sets maximum motor speed. 19mph is the speed setting in the controller. It almost Doesn’t matter what motor you put in it will still go at least that fast.
If you do a controller upgrade the same motor will run 22-23mph with ease.

Personally I wouldn’t spend a pile of money on a stock replacement motor. If you want to stay stock check with EMP Motors about a rebuilt motor, or having yours re-worked.

Thank you. That’s what I was thinking going with a rebuilt.

New question. Before I started removing the old motor, the solenoid worked now with the new rebuilt motor. The solenoid doesn’t work, but the solenoid checks out. Been doing a lot of checking, but can’t seem to find what would cause the solenoid not to work. Please help.
