My '05 Club Car
Got a third cart! A 2005 gas DS cart. This is my first FE290 OHV gas cart. Plans include an Allsports 6" Super Sport lift and 22.5x10x8 tires. It's going to look a heckova lot like my '87 gas DS (view thread here). Lift is on a bit of a backorder. I'm hoping to have it in my hands within 3-4 weeks.
My plans for this cart are different than most. I want my cart to be lifted and have big tires, but I'm using 8" offset wheels and I really want it to look more like a 1980s cart. I plan to put 1980-1992 body panels on it, am looking for one of the early 1980s rectangular nose emblems. I'm also planning on painting the glove box and dashboard light brown like the older carts, and as you can see I've already swapped out the steering wheel for a 1980-1991 three-spoke wheel. I'm probably not going to put the roof back on it, and I haven't decided if I'm going to paint it or just leave it stock beige and just add some old-school graphic or logos (like I did on my '87 DS). Our family owns a campground and I want it to appear kind of in the style of a cart that was used by campground maintenance back in the 1980s but with some modern amenities. I also plan to get it licensed for road use so I can take it on camping trips. After taking of the roof and back seat in preparation for the lift and other tweaks. |

Re: My '05 Club Car
Got my new-to-me first-gen front cowl test fitted on the '05 today. Also test fitted the old school nameplate and front bumper. Looking like early 1980s up in here! Still waiting on my 6" lift kit from Allsports.
Fixed the crack on the passenger front corner and filled in some of the holes & chips in the cowl. Sanding and re-finishing to come later. |
