Default Clutch Problem?? G1

Can anyone give me advice as to why my G1 buggy only goes slow and dies when going up an incline the belt is not engaging however when the rear is jacked up the engine goes flat out and the belts engage
Is this a clutch problem????
Thanks in advance for any thoughts

Is your engine revving and hitting the limiter when your going slow? Because i had my g1 go slow but the engine was revving really high. turned out to be the primary clutch though.

No the engine does not rev high when going slow can’t get full throttle but when the back wheels are jacked up it gives full throttle
Thanks for your reply

Worn belt or clutch is hanging up check inside of clutch for worn parts or belt residue.

Before pulling primary check the secondary for worn slider buttons, if worn to the point metal to metal it will cause the clutch to hang in low gear.

Thanks sooo much for your reply I think what your referring to is the six nylon bushes that are on the helix ( think that’s what you call it) they don’t seem worn metal to metal but one of them has broken off
Would this cause the problem ? And can it be replaced ? Or is a new clutch plate required
Thanks again

Still having problems buggy is still going slow and belts only draw in half way
Pulled primary clutch apart looks good could this be a secondary clutch problem??

if you checked the primary and thats ok tan its most likely the secondary that was suggested. If it were me id open the body and try to see whats going on in real time while under load. if hard but doable on the G1. When going up a hill I believe the secondary should close some and the primary open and allow better gearing to the wheels like ten speed bike

Also is the belt new? A assume so since thats the cheap obvious thing to check but figured id ask.. You can google the specs for belt width.

did it just start doing this all at once? does it climb better in reverse? hopefully the engine isnt weak. Often if its the engine it runs stronger in reverse

Don't rule out poor fuel draw. A cart under load needs a lot more fuel then a cart not under load, ie. a cart running while jacked up into the air.
