Well... tuning lasted about a week, maybe two... ride, adjust, ride, adjust etc....was really hard to get the idle right.. couldnt figure out why... until....

On a longer sustained ride, maybe 25mph for about 20min straight...
She gave it up...

The shame.... shame....

And carnage....

That wrist pin definetly showing the heat it took

Not super surpised, as the motor was the only bit we didnt touch... (that and the rear axle internals)

...all signs point toward a crank seal failure on the PTO side, leaning out that cylinder and melting that piston... also why it was not responding to jetting changes as one would expect

Alas... we will rebuild...

Getting the clutch off turned into a debacle.... all the threads were gone on the clutch shaft... had to helicoil it... even then it needed the hot wrench treatment to pop off.

Also decided to run an EGT sensor, just incase she leans out again....

Which brings me to the next adventure while im waiting on some parts... quieting it down...

Got a DG two strok muffler... two birds one stone time... I always hated where the exhaust exited... right into the sway bar link... so.. pie cut time!

Taped:

Tacked:

Welded: (please dont judge, been a while since I tig'd so small)

Not my best work...but, its a golf cart.....

Added another bracket for the muffler to have extra support:

Also wrapped the front part of the exhaust as it was really close to some bits.

So far we are about 8 months into the build, tinkering here and there between other projects... but as of now this is it....

Probably wont be any updates for a few weeks as I am waiting on some parts and as life generally does, life gets in the way...

Will post once I get the motor back in and tuning again....

Cheers*🍻🍻🍻🍻

More to come! 🙃

One note from my 440 cc sled build. After I blew the fan apart in the original HD cart engine which I had put a new HD cart muffler on I used it on the sled engine swap. Sounds much like the original HD cart just slightly busier. Amazingly the only tuning mod need on the sled engines Mikuni VM carb was to go 1 step leaner on the needle. Sounds nothing like a sled like so many of the youtube builds. My whole build is in the sled section of big block carts. It is nowhere the build level you have.
