Default 1983 Harley Gas Cart

Hello everyone. Working on the first of my carts. It’s a 1983 Columbia Harley.

Thankyou for the info on here so i could figure out the ignition switch.

A couple questions.
Is the governor cable necessary? It’s missing on mine.

My cart has the chrome side rails & the seats also have a arm rail of sorts, but not sure if the seat arm rails go on the inside or out side toward the the chrome. Looks like at one point by the marks(rubbing) they were on the outside. I got the cart in parts and not sure which is the right way.

Thanks for any help.

Governor cable is absolutely not needed on these carts. For that matter, you can remove the governor plate and spring as well. Them being there won't hurt anything but taking them off removes the chance for them to clang around and make noise.

Your side arms go on the outside of the cart for sure.

Thankyou. Everything for governor seem to be already taken out except for cable holder.
Thanks again for the help.
