Default Vanish Transmission

Just a heads up that I have uploaded the Transmission Assembly guide to : https://evtechnicalservices.com/onli...embly-document

It's the document used when these were put together from component level in Wisconsin using the parts which were here since 2012.

A common issue is the transmission will pop out of gear and not move. Sometimes the casing gets damaged and there isn't much you can do with that, but on some units built in WI they forgot to install the snap ring on the input shaft. This would finally end up with the gears no longer meshing and your Vanish sitting in the woods while the motor can run but the wheels do nothing.

The document is still half in Chinese, but the photos should help anyone trying to get an idea of what's inside the thing. Good luck all!

My Vanish stopped working right in the middle of plowing snow last winter. I had it serviced by a local dealer that is a Tomberlin dealer. They pulled the transmission and said that there was a roll pin in the transmission on the main shaft that sheared off and had to be replaced. Do you know what roll pin they're talking about, and is this a common thing as well?

Thanks!

Don

I am thinking it was one of the rollpins in the premade chinese components. I've also heard quite a few folks with the transmission instantly "popping" something when they accidentally shift from forward to reverse or the opposite while still in motion.

Also added a tech tip for the newer units (even though they were built about 2-3 years ago with even older parts).
