Default Leaf spring on 1200 EZGO won't go.

Hi,
I picked up a OEM 4inch drop axle lift kit and having some struggles.

Front went on once I got the tie rod off and assemble in reverse order.

I am struggling with the rear .....
Tried to put leaf spring together first....and then assemble axle to leaf spring and had alignment issues....so I assembled the axle to leaf spring and went much smoother. Now I can't get the leaf spring back into the perches.

With the axle on blocks
If I lift the frame, axle follows up.....( rear shocks are off )
If I lift the axle....everything goes upward...

Can't seem to get the clearance I need. Saw plenty of videos and everything seems like it's no problem and things fall together...not here....

I never had a problem by hooking up the front of the springs first (with the cart supported by jack stands and a floor jack under the rearend) then bolt the axle to the springs which takes a little maneuvering, then jack up and bolt the rear of the springs.

Sounds like sequence is critical.
Took everything back apart to start over.

I had the axle on blocks and jack under cart....I was not able to move cart or axle side to side to help with alignment....so I bolted axle to springs first and the tried dealing with vertical alignment.....shouldn't need to force it that much.

Will also drain oil and refill with 1.5 quarts just to make sure...

Got a little precarious trying to force everything to line up so I thought to reach out. I know you have done a couple in your time with carts so I will try it this way.

That fixed it.....

That sequence worked better than the instructions.

It was a fussy fit but not a wack it with hammer fit. My added problem was I tightened the axle to lift perch too soon...didn't want it move...but restrictions do apply ..

Quick question.... the thru bolts were tad on the short side so I cut threaded rod to replace it with...I have nylon nuts and washers on the bottom and washer, split washer and nut on top...is that a safe solution for recreational use.?

I should spend this much time on my knee's praying as I spent getting this on . So...I still need to flip and install brakes...

Pheeew !!! Next one should be a little faster.

Praying always helps.. glad you got it together, you can buy nuts and bolts at tractor supply cheap but threaded rod should work. Good luck on switching the brakes and post some pictures of the finish product.. It's a good day when you get them up and off their feet.

BTW.. I'm 80 years old, if I got on my knees now I would have to call 911 to help get back up. :)

Shiny and mud?

Sounds like you need an electric power washer when you come home!!!

Hey StoveBolt,
Thanks for your help. It was a good day in the shop. Got her on feet and self propelled. Still want to do an alignment check but feels good and tight.

So I changed the oil and deposited 1.5 quarts and it barely touched the bottom of dip stick..

What I did notice is motor has a slant towards the back....which I think is correct...
I did glue the center caps on since they are not installed from behind the rim like others I've seen.

Still need to get bed back on but couldn't help but go for a ride....of course....the dog trips on his way in.....I don't know who was happier...me or the dog....

I'm glad you still play with carts at 80 years old. I want to be like you when I grow up

Now I have shiny mud. Wash, clean, ride, mud, repeat....
