But there can be losses. Losses dependent upon your other electrical components, tires & bearings, wind resistance, motor condition, Battery pack configuration and health, etc, like Doug mentioned already.... I just found it safer to say 25% and then let people be pleasantly surprised rather than 33.3% and have them disappointed. 25-30% is possible

It takes more power to go from 20 to 25 mph than it does from 15 to 20 mph! The faster the higher. And a golf cart with a full wind shield is like trying to hold up a large piece of plywood on a windy day. That is why I would cap at 35 mph.

You mentioned CHP, if you're in California it will be hard to get your cart street legal without a real VIN number.

How much voltage can a 36v series motor take? How many watts before it melts?

OK, so far I have the following:

• 96' TXT Series
• 6 X 6V T105 batteries - Will add 2 more in the Bag Well
• 480 Amp LGS controller
• #4 Wires to motor, 1/0 on the batteries
• HD Solenoid
• HD F&R Switch
• 18" Stock Tires
• Looks like a 19 spline motor
• Looks like a new rear end: 73500-G01 Date 10/26/07

I was looking at "The Assassin" - Model #PQ9231 but it is a 10 spline. Can the original motor be re-wound?

You can have it re wound by D&D or PQ. I think D&D or some has a two speed motor. I think getting to 35mph is gonna be a tough going with 48v even with all the upgrade and large tires, maybe use trailer tires for less resistance. But an upgrade to disk brakes should be on list as Scottyb said, stopping is gonna be must. Since you have not bought a new controller yet, look at one that can do 72v or even 96v buy a new solenoid and go with 6-12v batters or even 8-12v batteries. You should get your speed with that, provided you don't have to go more than 10 miles. put and on board changer and you can extend your range. Your motor, FnR, and cables can handle it. you need to up you cables to your motor to at least 2ga. Check over at the Extreme DC thread for other options.

You can get that style motor in an EZ-GO case...........I would go to 2ga. wire with this motor..........

Good point on the brakes. Our seller said the the EZGO PDS fastest speed was limited to 19 MPH by the factory because the brakes were only rated for up to 19.5 MPH.

Your seller may be a little misinformed. Golf carts are limited in speed more by an agreement within the golf cart manufacturers to 19mph. Golf courses in general have a 15mph limit on carts and for liability reasons don't like or allow fast carts on their course. Golf course restrictions is why Ezgo offers a turtle/rabbit switch for low and high speed settings.
LSV's have a government mandated speed of 20-25mph and other than accessories are differentiated by speed alone yet they use the same brakes as golf carts.

What RPM will this motor do on 48v?
