Default G2 8:1 gear change

So I’m finally gearing up, no pun intended, to put my 8:1 gears in my G2. Has anyone out there done this, maybe have some advice, pics?

This is a G2 with 8:1 gears installed and 12:1 stock gears out as well as governor parts removed.

My advice: Get a manual, look at the drawings, do lots of research, take your time. It's not that complicated, basic gear transfer case design. Also, have a table set up with a clean blanket or towel to organize your parts. Take lots of photos along the way so you know where stuff goes etc. Have fun.

So after a couple years I finally did the 8:1 gear change. I was running about 33mpg at about 4500ish rpms with 22” tires. After the gear change and about 12 runs adjusting the carb and tightening the belt, I was right around 42 mph. Let me tell ya, that’s a little hairy on a golf cart. Love it! Oh yeah, that was with the windshield up. 😂

Knock on wood, the one I put high speed gears in didn’t wobble, but it sure would give you a pucker factor. 40+ was a normal speed at a lot lower RPM’s
