Default 1980 Club Car DS, SN - A8044

Hey everyone. I am a newbie and made a mistake. I wanted a Cart to tinker with and I bought something cheap but that runs well without doing enough research. Its a 1980 DS. I want to upgrade it but all the lift kits I found are for 81 and up. Same with most everything.

Any idea if I can do anything with this? It is the model with 5 solenoids and 36volt. I was thinking about scrapping all of the guts and turning it into an AC.

I bought a 2001 the following week and have been doing a lot with it but kind if stuck with this old one. I cant seem to sell it because of the age.

Any help would be appreciated.

John

Not sure what you’re trying to get out of it, but despite its age it looks pretty nice to me. That would sell very quickly here for 2k or so even in winter. Probably sell quickly for 3k in a couple months.

I see palm trees so guessing you don’t have winter. But tax refund season is coming soon and in my experiences that’s always been the best time to sell carts and quads

Nice ride! Mine is an '80 too. Bought it as it was in real good shape structurally, real fiberglass body, ran and no frame cracks. I just swapped out the front weldment and steering box/column for a newer rack unit so I could use an off the shelf lift kit. Same for the rear end. Scored a Kawasaki axle to mount an aftermarket motor. Converted the controls to sepex and couldn't be happier. Cart runs everyday, even yesterday at 25 below.

Thanks CP241. I paid $2900.00. I would like to get close to that out of it. I have put about 5K into another cart and I need to get some money back for one of them but mainly garage space. If I could modify it I would and sell the newer one but I don't know if that's doable do to the age.

This one is a 2001 and just got out of paint. UptoPar did the seat covers and I have a PlumQuick engine on the way.

I am headfirst deep into this hobby, sure having a good time though. LOL

I honestly don’t see why you couldn’t get 3k for it and get your money back. Maybe a bit more in about a month or two when people get that tax money.

I’ve always sold carts well below “market value” just because I’ve never “flipped” them for the money. I love rebuilding them and the transformation from garbage to glorious. But right now even a stock DS off a golf course in rough condition probably needing batteries is 2500-3k. I accidentally bought a 99 DS not long ago… completely stock with a back seat and year old batteries it sold for 3k in a day. Like yourself I needed the garage space, I’ve already got a 70’s caroche and a 2008 DS. No room for a 3rd cart and room to work

I am with CP241. In two months you can get at least 3K for it easy. It has got a lot up upgrades on it. Nice looking cart.
