Default How to remove speed magnet

Have a 2015 Yamaha cart with the stock Hitachi motor. Wanted to get a few extra MPH so it was recommended to replace sensor magnet with a high speed magnet by a certified Yamaha tech. Unfortunately, the magnet doesn't have a bolt holding it on like a Club Car and I can't figure out how to get it off. Any advice is welcome. A video would be great.
Thanks.

Never heard that... there is a speed sensor magnet on the Hitachi motor for speed signal only. To get 19mph, you can purchase a speed code from Yamaha dealer or better invest in an aftermarket controller like Alltrax.

The magnet is screwed into the end of the armature shaft. I would not mess with it but either get the speed code from a Yamaha dealer or get a controller that allows you to set the speed via a laptop program. (Alltrax is what I use)

The magnet trick is not the best way but if you decide to do it...

Your magnet is not screwed on.
Remove the speed sensor.
Remove the end cap and brushes.
There is a C-clip around the plastic tabs of the magnet which is not shown in the picture. Be careful when removing the clip. It likes to fly and for some reason it is never seen again.
Now is the time to be careful but I don't think that you are trying to save the old magnet. You can use your finger tips and pry the magnet off. Some are tight. Some are not. If you are very careful you can do it without breaking it. But again I don't think you care. You are replacing it anyway.

These magnets are very easy to break. Be gentle.

I once had my speed sensor come unplugged without knowing it and the cart ran faster I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary just faster speed, that is until the day I found it unplugged I had crawled under cart to look at something else and saw the wire hanging, burned my arm plugging it back in the motor was running hot.

Some controllers go into "limp mode" when the speed sensor is unplugged.
