Thanks again Ramjett, that advice will help in me not saying any choice words, I'm sure.

Default Bombardier Batteries, Yuck

Posted this earlier this AM, not sure it was in the correct forum, so I'm reposting:

Hi all, new to this site and specifically the Bombardier NEV. I've had my green/white 1999 Sport-E for about 6 years now and it is time to change the batteries. This appears to be a difficult task as described in the maintenance manual. Since I don't have a fork lift, I'm looking for ideas from this forum. I'm sure many of you have worked this so any ideas on how to remove the battery tray would be helpful. For now, I was thinking about using my motorcycle lift under the Bomb to raise it, then put the wheels/axle on jack stands, remove the hardware and slowly let the lift down. Since the lift is on wheels, it might be easy to then roll it out. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any ideas. Lonzo

That's exactly how I did mine. Worked pretty good. I have a 2000 now and can access the batteries from under the seats. Give me a shout I'm not to far away in Vero Beach.

Thanks, It was common sense thinking on the idea. I'll get back with you, I'd probably like to see your cut outs.

As for the batteries, I haven't seen what is in my unit, I suspect they are original. But considering getting the proper AMG (AGM?) sealed batteries from Interstate. My friend can get a little discount. I've studied ideas like getting wet cells and adding an auto fill system, or not. Cutting after I remove the batteries: Does it make removal/reinstall easy?

I currently have 2 Bombardiers that are electric. Cutting a hole under the seats to access the batteries is way easier than trying to drop them from the bottom. It still takes work to get them in and out.

Here is my Bombardier project in progress. It is a little ways from being done. I do have the stock parts that I removed.
