Default 96 club coil exchange

Do I need to change any thing like wiring and such to upgrade to a newer coil with the exciter made on the coil?

I have removed everything and this looks to be an older type coil with the plug
On top but I can not locate the igniter. I removed the limiter and didn't see anything. What am I missing. Can I do away with this 2 piece system and go with the newer coil with the igniter on it?

It may help if you told us what year cart you are working on. On a 94 it was on the back side of the limiter......

If you have the later version of the 96 you already have the
coil with the built-in ignitor. Club Car switched about mid-year.
Do you know where the RPM limiter is located. If so, slip a finger
under and behind the RPM limiter bracket and you can feel the ignitor
if it's there. About the size of a half dollar, stacked 4 high.

Ok I found it! I was given universal ignitor to use as a test it has 2 plugs on it you either make it a positive or negative ground which would I need.

Well, Son, You got me on that. I would say, that since the ignitor
body itself is fastened on to ground, go with the positive first.
