Default Electric Golf Cart Motor

Can anyone tell me how to test the motor in a electric golf cart to see if it should run........is there any way to jump from the batts to the motor and make it run....to isolate the motor from the rest of the controls?

When I push the pedal I get nothing no click nothing.

THANKS

Chances are the motor is fine and the electrical is toast...anyhow most do the following.

1. Connect S1 to A2
2. Connect 12 volt posistive from a battery charger to S2
3. Connect 12 volt negative from a battery charger to A1
4. Turn on charger, observe , then turn off charger.

If motor runs its ok.

Yes, some of the old motors have "F" instead of "S".

12 volts will be sufficient to run the motor. A battery or larger charger can be used. You can even use a 6 volt battery if needed. Obviously a 6 volt won't spin very fast but it will spin enough to tell you wether the motor is ok.

What may be wrong? I have no idea what kind of cart you have or symptoms.

You should start by finding out what you have G2, G8 etc. Then get a wiring diagram from the Yamaha electric forum and check everything to make sure its wired correctly.

Look under the rear of the cart on the underside of the crossmember. Should be a number stamped into the crossmember.

What is your total pack voltage?
