Anybody up north ever customize a golf cart for ice fishing?

Electrics always start easy in cold weather! The hard part will be cutting a hole in the floor to fish

My old stock motor I had in my G2 would start in temps around -2F with no problems at all other than cables freezeing.

Last year was the first year that we got to use our cart for ice fishing, and it was totally awesome!.

Things that are a must would definitely be an enclosure! I was soo gald that i had a cammo enclosure on. on a sunny day it got soo warm inside, i could take off my boots, and sit my feet on the dash.. It was nice and toasty. I opened up the side door, faced it away from the wind, and was nice and comfy. Even had the radio going.

As far as starting a gas cart in the cold, make sure your battery is fully charged. Last thing you need is a dead battery on the lake. And check your owners manual for the right oil in cold temperatures. When it gets down to -20c you don't want to have thick oil over and over again.

Now as for wheels, get a atv style wheel that has a thick sidewall. ex. a 10" wheel that is 22" or more. You will need to lower the pressure down a fair bit when your on the lake because it can get a bit bumpy when going over ridges, and it will soften up the ride dramatically. I had a 22" efx blade tire which is very similar to the alltrail, and its a great all purpose tire. You should have tire chains anyway if your gonna use it frequently. No tire has great traction on ice.

We used the 92 marathon below, it was great on the ice. BTW its a 2 stroke, not a 4 so oil really wasn't a concern. It ran great in the cold.

I have pics that i will post when i find them.

Other than that, have fun, and catch fish.
